Just removed these three guys with a small flatblade, a center punch, and pb blaster. Didn’t even have to break out the LH drill bits thankfully. Anyone want to take a guess at what engine this is?

A broken one?

Nope, just a previously leaking one.

Broken bolts are the bane of my existence. How did you do this you wizard?

I looked up all of my guesses and they didn’t match. I don’t have a clue.

1st ingredient was time/patience. 2 days of PB blaster every 8 hours or so, mainly because my hips been killing me, so I wasnt trying to really work on it the last couple days.
Other than that, center punch each one in the center once. Partially in anticipation of using LH drill bits, also to shock them a little.
Then apply pressure while turning the flatblade, luckily 2 had broken in a way that there was a little lip for the screwdriver to catch.
If and when the screwdriver friction wasn’t enough to keep them turning, I hit them again with the center punch at an angle that would slightly shock them counter-clockwise.
After I got them rotated enough to expose 2 - 3 threads, needle nose or fingers to unscrew them the rest of the way.
Maybe not the best method in the world but it works well here for a couple reasons: first being heat and metal shavings from drilling would be best off avoided over an open aluminum head. Second being that they likely sheared when someone over tightened them, so they weren’t stuck per say.

I need to PB blast my whole car for a week straight. Thanks for the super in depth reply! I need to tackle some broken headlight bolts soon

Hint: It’s essentially identical in every way to the m60/m62 found in a BMW 540i, or 740i. However, it’s not made by BMW, or even another German manufacturer.

Not a problem. Hopefully they don’t give you too much trouble.

DeTomaso Guarà engine? (Based on the hint of it being like a m60/m62)
